Upgrade your ROLAND BOSS GX-700 to the latest firmware version, v1.10. Note - You can check your current firmware version by holding down preamp and sp.sim while powering on your GX-700. Then check the test mode section to see the version.
Warning - Chip must be installed in the correct orientation. Installing backwards will damage the chip and your device!
Install Instructions
1. Shut down your GX700 and disconnect power
2. Remove the top cover to expose the circuit board.
3. Find the chip IC20 as shown in the picture. This is the chip you need to swap. Be sure to note the orientation of the notch on the chip.
Recommended - Take a picture now, just in case you forget which way the notch faces!
4. Pull the chip straight out with the chip puller tool ensuring not to bend any pins.
5. Install the new chip in the same slot ensuring you have the notch pointing in the same direction.
Note - You may need to carefully bend the chip legs slightly to align them with the socket holes.
6. Reinstall the cover, power up and enjoy!
