These chips will allow you to upgrade your Roland D-70 to the latest firmware version, v1.19.
Install Instructions
Warning - Chips must be installed in the correct orientation. Installing chips backwards may damage the chips and your device.
1. Shut down your D-70 and disconnect power
2. Carefully open the cover of your D-70 to expose the circuit board.
3. Find chips "IC4 / A" and "IC9 / B" as shown in the pictures. These are the the chips you need to swap. Yours may look like the ones in the pictures or they may have a different sticker on them. Be sure to note the orientation of the notches on the chips!
Recommended - Take a picture first, just in case you forget!
4. Pull the chips straight out with the chip puller tool ensuring not to bend any pins.
5. Install the new chips in the same slots ensuring you have the notches pointing in the same direction. Don't mix up "IC4 / A" and "IC9 / B"
Note - You may need to carefully bend the chip legs slightly to align them with the socket holes.
6. Reinstall the cover, power up, and enjoy
