EPROM chip for upgrading your Oberheim Matrix 1000 to the last offical firmware version, OS v1.16. Includes chip and a chip puller tool for safely removing your old chip.
Install Instructions
Warning - Chip must be installed in the correct orientation. Installing backwards may damage the chip and device!
1. Shut down your Matrix 1000 and disconnect power.
2. Carefully open your Matrix 1000 to expose the circuit board.
3. Find the chip U804 shown in the pictures. This is the chip you need to swap. Be sure to note the orientation of the notch on the chip.
Recommended - Take a picture now, just in case you forget how it goes in!
4. Pull the old chip straight out with the chip puller tool ensuring not to bend any pins.
5. Install the new chip in the same slot ensuring you have the notch pointing in the same direction.
Note - You may need to carefully bend the chip legs slightly to align them with the socket holes.
6. Reinstall the cover, power up, and enjoy
